A simple library that provides access to some of the POSIX (Linux, Unix, etc) libc functions like shm_open(), mmap(), etc. Used mostly to implement memory-sharing, short-circtuit I/O and other UNIX-specific optimizations that are not available in the startandard Java APIs.
